Methodology

How the analysis works

Football Lens presents saved pre-match research from recorded fixture and result data. A model estimate is a probability for an outcome under its assumptions. It is not certainty or a measured win rate.

What enters a saved report

Recorded form

Relevant recent and venue match results supply points, goals scored and goals conceded per match. Home and away samples are labeled separately.

Competition context

Competition baselines, opponent context and prior meetings can inform a report when enough recorded history exists. The report shows the available sample sizes.

Modelled outcomes

A saved goal-distribution baseline produces result, goal and scoreline estimates. Strength Matchup is a separate result model; its percentage must be read separately from the goal model's result estimate.

How to read the numbers

Probability is an estimate

A 60% model estimate describes that model's assigned probability for a specified market. It does not mean 60% confidence in the data or a guaranteed outcome. Rounding may make displayed 1X2 values total 99% or 101%.

“Expected goals” on a report is a modelled goal mean, not event-level measured xG.

Evidence has limits

Venue sample size and the competition baseline describe what records were used; they do not prove predictive accuracy. Current saved summaries do not always include the exact sample date range. Injury news, confirmed lineups and live match events are not included in the prepared pre-match report.

No statistical uncertainty interval or forward calibration rate is currently published for these estimates.

Coverage and freshness are separate

Coverage

Data Health lists enabled competitions, stored fixtures, recorded historical results, ready reports and the last successful sync when known. A listed competition does not guarantee a prepared report for every fixture.

Report preparation

Each free report shows when its saved analysis was prepared and when the fixture is scheduled to start. The source's last recorded fixture update is a different time from report preparation. Past results do not turn a pre-match estimate into live performance evidence.

What we do not claim

No published accuracy or return claim is made here without a traceable test period, selection rule, denominator, model version and forward or historical replay method. Free examples are actual saved reports from today's shared five; they are not simulated tips.

Football Lens does not accept bets. Review the supporting and contrary evidence in each permitted report before drawing a conclusion.
